The Colour House Children's Theatre is proud to announce their 66th Production, The Wizard of Oz, a fantastic musical adaptation of the classic family tale. Join Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Lion, and The Scarecrow, as they attempt to escape the Wicked Witch Of The West, Will they escape? Will their dreams come true? This exciting adventure opens the Colour House Children's Theatre's Autumn season and marks their 66th production! So click your heels together and follow the Yellow brick Road all the way down to the Colour House Children's Theatre. Remember.....there's no place like home!

PICK 'N' MYTHS



Adventures, music and monsters in storytelling shows for kids.

Come and hear about the king who grew donkey's ears, the clever goddess Athena, and a little boy who learned to fly in these delightful storytelling shows based on Greek myths. Pick n Myths plays at the Colour House Theatre, Merton Abbey Mills on 27 - 31 August, transferring from the prestigious Pleasance Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival.

A trio of actors present some of the most exciting stories ever told, with songs, audience participation, friendly monsters and silly hats. Choose from three different tales from Greek myths adapted for a young audience:


Snakes and Sea Monsters: 11am on 27, 29, 30 and 31 August
Travel with Perseus as he takes on Medusa, who has a nest of hissing snakes for hair, meets tough Andromeda, and helps a sea monster who needs to learn to roar.

King Midas' Silly Mistakes: 2pm on 27, 28, 30 and 31 August
King Midas has everything - a big palace, a lovely family, and lots of fun things to play with. But he keeps on bumping into grumpy Gods, and that always leads to trouble...

A-Mazing Adventures: 11am on 28 August, 2pm on 29 August, 4pm on 30 and 31 August
The King of Crete has the twistiest, turniest maze in the world. Hear about the dim-witted Minotaur who lives there, how Theseus learns how to be brave, and Icarus, the little boy who can fly!

Director and devisor Robin Norton-Hale's past projects include Happy Campers (London), Spirit of Vienna (English Touring Opera national tour), Sweet Charity (assistant director, Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and TIE shows in schools in the UK, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland.

Designer Natasha Jenkins has worked for Opera North, the National Theatre Studio and the Tramway Theatre.

The cast (of whom three will perform each show) is: Charles de Bromhead, Dafydd Huw James, Fiona J. Keats, Georgina Phillip and Leon Scott.

In 2005 a generous donation by the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation made possible the creation of the Onassis Programme for the Performance of Greek Drama at Oxford University. The programme commissions, develops and produces professional work by international theatre artists inspired by Greek drama.

Abbeyfest 2008

AbbeyFest 2008 is underway with fabulous line up of top shows in the Colour House Theatre, including late night theatre for the first time. We have four 1 hour shows throughout July opening with a hilarious musical comedy, Under The Knife, a great take on the world of cosmetic surgery! In August we have longer shows finishing with a double bill of two new shows, The Cage Birds and Lord Buckley.

Last year we reintroduced open air theatre with a very successful production of A Mid Summer Nights Dream, so this year we have gone for three productions; an innovative and exciting adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Neverland The Peter Pan Musical (a magical, spellbinding musical extravaganza), and to finish, Tales of the Old North, a show filled with fantasy, fairytales and black magic. An exciting line up for all the family to enjoy!

All our favourite jazz artists for the ever popular series of free Friday night jazz concerts, in particular Tony O'Malley who launches this years festival on Friday 4th July. In addition, and another first, we have programmed a superb season of free weekend lunchtime jazz sessions running throughout July and August from 1pm - 4pm on both Saturdays and Sundays.

The blues this year (Blues at the Mills) starts a day earlier on Thursday 21st August, a bonus for all you Blues lovers out there!

Our Comedy line up (Slaughterville at the Watermill) is possibly the strongest weve had to date, with 4 Edinburgh preview nights and 3 stand up shows. We bring you a top quality gathering of some of the best comedians on the circuit today, guaranteeing lots of laughter along the way.

To complement the festival's music theme we have programmed a couple of delightful chamber concerts (Sunday Evening Music Among Friends).
